golden girls

a few weeks ago i had a friend contact me about coming up with some ideas for a "goldie" party she was throwing. she wanted to make a lot of candles quickly and cheaply. so we got some tall jar candles, a can of gold metallic spray paint and grabbed a whole bunch of crap out of my craft closet. for the chevron candle i just used painters tape and taped out a free hand chevron pattern so that it still had a hand made feel to it. the doily candle is also pretty self explanatory, i just grabbed a doily and wrapped it around, then spray painted it. finally for the last candle, ugh! ignore the picture below... well don't ignore it pretend like it is just spray painted normal gold. {obviously i attempted something that didn't turn out quite the way i wanted... hey it can't work out perfect every time...} after i spray painted it i scraped the side with a razor blade just to roughen it up a bit and so light would shine through, then i  mixed three different types of gold glitter and modge podge then painted it on. obviously the chevron one takes the longest to prepare but all in all super cute, super easy and super cheap!!!
