poppy seed ham sammies

we have a running joke in this family about what a poor cook cam's mom is... { you k} and if you have read any of my other recipe posts i'm sure i have poked fun at her a few times. and the apple doesn't fall from the tree... cam's sister isn't much better {❤ you k} so our rule is they think of the meal and ill cook it. needless to say i haven't gotten too many recipes from that side of the family. however this is one exception that must be shared! poppy seed ham sammies!!! im sure if you are on pinterest you have seen a version of this recipe floating around but its about time the best one is put out there. they have been eating these for years and ever since my first bite a few christmas' ago they have become a staple in our house! they are perfect for everything from baby showers to dinner parties. i will even make them so we can eat them throughout the week for lunch. in the end, this recipe makes up for the one too many chicken with cream of mushroom soup dinners we've made in this family... love you guys.
poppy seed ham sammies

1 1/2 pound shaved ham {literally falling into pieces}
3/4 pound sliced swiss cheese  {each piece cut into 4ths}
2 packs hawaiian sweet rolls {or any dinner rolls}
2 sticks butter
1 tablespoon dijon mustard
2 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
1/2 cup brown sugar.

cut dinner rolls in half. build sandwiches in a baking dish. bottom of roll, little pile of ham, slice of swiss, top of roll... you get the gist.  in a sauce pan melt butter. add mustard, worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds and brown sugar. cook over medium low heat until well combined and sugar is all melted. pour sauce over sandwiches. cover with foil. refrigerate over night, or at least a few hour. {if i need them quickly ill sometimes double the sauce since its not going to have as much soaking time... but they are much better when you let them chill for a while.} bake at 350 degrees f for about 20 min or until cheese is melted and center sammies are hot. if tops start to burn cover with foil and continue baking.

ps they really aren't that bad of cooks. i just give them are hard time. i have gotten quite a few recipes from them which i'm sure i will be sharing with you...
