you know how you go to little birthday parties and the kids sit there and beat a pinata for twenty minutes until a parent has to come and "help" em out a bit??? well i think i found the answer... the mini pinata popper! even though a big pinata might be more fun, especially for the bigger kids, when you've got toddlers you rarely trust swinging a big stick aimlessly, a mini pinata might just be the answer. use toilets paper rolls or paper towel rolls, decorate, fill with confetti and candy. i used {this} tutorial {although i left out a couple steps, still worked perfect... for the most part} had i not forgotten about them, i'm sure they would have been a hit with the kids! but i did, so ever got to pop them all by her self... oops! super easy, and you don't need to just make these for birthdays, really fun on a regular old tuesday too!
i also set up a craft table and besides painting mini bird houses i had everyone decorate mini bow+arrows. you might remember these from your days at summer camp, and since we were doing a little "camp-out-y kinda theme" for ever's birthday i thought these would be fun. buuuut incase you don't remember that long ago heres a little tutorial to refresh your mem.... you take popsicle sticks {the larger wider ones work best} soak for about 3 hours. half way through soaking make two little notches on each end. once flexible, gently bend stick to form half moon. tie your string a few times around one end, then down and around other side and back up. tie off and you are ready to start shootin {i used spider wire, but fishing wire or floss work great too! you can also add glue to either end just to make sure the string is secure.} for the arrows of course you could use something a little more threatening for you big "kids" but for the little kids i just used q-tips...

Ok - the Q-Tip thing is flipping GENIUS. Positively genius. I never would've thought to use them!
This looks like the coolest party ever. No pun intended. ;)
I love the mini pinata's and what a beautiful mother daughter shot of you both on the swing when the pinata bursts.
