every year around this time i start craving all of those good holiday candies and cookies... as you could tell last year by this post {fudge and honey butter!} this year i will be making both of those along with these pralines! all of my family in new orleans make these sweet treat so they give me a warm feeling inside every time i eat them. so while my mom was in town this past week we started off the baking season {and ate all of them in 2 days i might add !!} i definitely think these should be added to your holiday baking list!
pralines
ingredients:
1 cup white sugar
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup evaporated milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla

directions
lay a sheet of parchment paper on the counter. over medium heat mix the white sugar, brown sugar and evaporated milk over medium heat. continually stir while heating. it's done when it has reached 235 degrees on a candy thermometer or makes a semi-hard ball in a cup of ice water. once done add butter, vanilla and pecans. continue to stir until mixture is slightly cooled {about 2 minutes}
ps the are extra extra yummy when they are hot!!!
{this was my sweet aunt frans favorite part.... always lick the pot !!!}

Beach Momma :

Caitie :

Any idea how long the honey butter lasts after being made?? I made the two stick recipe for Thanksgiving but I still have a good half of the batch left over. Will it still be good come Christmas? I don't want to give my CT family butter that's going to give them toe nail poisoning hahaha.

Mrs.A :

It looks really delicious! Try them and tell you how I have been!
