mama's lemon cookies

my mom used to make these cookies for us all year but these lemony treats seem so much yummier in the summer! and the best part? you can be eating them in 10 minutes... seriously. not only are these the softest and chewiest but they are the easiest! they are a little bit cheater since you use a box mix but i promise no one will know...

ingredients:                                                                                       

cookies                                               

1 box lemon cake mix

1 egg

1 stick butter {room temp}

icing

powdered sugar

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tbsp butter {melted}

1/2 tsp vanilla

pinch salt

1-2 tbsp milk

directions:

stir together cake mix egg and butter until you have a dough. roll into balls. place on baking sheet. bake at 350f for 8-10 minutes. while baking, mix icing together {adding the milk if you need to make the icing a little runnier... exact measurements may differ so adjust until you get the right consistency} allow cookies to cool a minute then glaze... enjoy!

put a {bobby} pin in it

one of my favorite places to get hair accessories is from a ban.do {that is where i got these gold heart pins/ clips  that i have used as party favors a few times.} when i saw these adorable glitter bobby pins i wanted them. immediately. like can't wait for them to come in the mail immediate. so i made them! i didn't have the exact bobby pins needed or glitter colors on hand but i think they came out pretty good... so easy to do literally 1, 2, 3.... first i got a few flat bobbi pins, painted a little modge podge on the top, then sprinkled some glitter. once dried, i used nail polish top coat to seal it in!  these would dress up any outfit or add the perfect sparkle to catch the summer sun in cutoffs and a tee!

ice cream cups

i love entertaining.... but i hate being the one stuck in the kitchen not enjoying all the fun! so i try to get as much done before people get here. one thing i did for the little ones birthday was to buy the little pre-packaged ice cream cups and tied cute wooden ice cream spoons to them.... this way im enjoying the ice cream while everyone else is too!      

{although i don't really like ice cream...so at least i could watch them enjoy theirs ha}
