classic sugar cookies

sugar cookies are a christmas staple is our house but this year we didn't quite get our fill so we made them for valentines day this year too! here is our classic sugar cookie recipe and the icing recipe {although i was out of powdered sugar so we just used the pre packaged stuff..... and it wasn't quite the same so if you make these, make the icing!!!}

sugar cookies
2 3/4 c flour
1 cup softened butter
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 c sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla

icing
2 1/2 c powder sugar
2 tbs water
1 tbs butter
1 tbs milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
food coloring

directions:
mix flour, baking soda and baking power in one bowl. mix butter and sugar, beat in an egg. add vanilla.   add the flour ingredients to the sugar mixture. roll out and cut! bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. mix all ingredients for icing together. decorate! {we added some sprinkles into some of the dough before cooking that turned out pretty cute!!}

I bought all the stuff today but couldn't find heart shape cookie cutters, so were are doing round ones and decorating them with hearts. I'm rubbish when it comes to making biscuits, so I'm gonna do a test run tonight so I don't ruin the girls lol

MrsBitchface :
